Experience

I have had a broad range of hands-on practical experience across multiple business units and industries across healthcare, construction and transportation. The common factors are a passion for building and growth, new technologies and doing meaningful work to help others.

As well as building  up my professional aptitude, this has given me the practical skills to communicate to  a varied range of stakeholders and manage those client relationships.

You can view my industry experience below, in reverse chronological order.

Medical Devices
Clinical & Sales

I took on a clinical sales role to gain a better in depth understanding of the surgical processes, the systems within hospitals and purchasing groups, and a business understanding of the medical devices industry.

This smaller company was one of the few in Australia undertaking in house design and development, which allowed me to grasp the working business model of a medical manufacturing company, I also had the freedom to experiment across other areas such as marketing and product development.

Initially doing sales and clinical trials with a national focus, the acquisition by a larger US company and Covid changed this to a narrower focus on VIC/TAS where I consistently achieve despite the disruptions.

Medical Devices
Service & Engineering

Starting off at the main office in the national repair centre I worked on pricing tools based on profitability models, failure rates, life cycle analysis, and historical data before moving into a field based role.

In the field I assisted in building operating theatres, and looked after the maintenance and servicing of Stryker surgical equipment in the VIC/TAS region.

This hands-on experience provided an in-depth understanding on the intricacies of the equipment used, as well as client facing skills and coordination of works between the organisations and the hospitals.

Construction
Mechanical Services

Furthering my project management skills and a desire to build new things, I was an integral part of the mechanical services division of a mid-tier builder.

As part of site, project and operational management activities I worked on financial reporting and accounts, as well as procurement and engagement of sub-contractors.

I undertook project and site management activities to maintain projects to schedule; working on commercial refits and builds of offices, schools, educational facilities, aged care homes and hospitals.

Working on hospital builds and seeing hospital equipment, inspired me to pivot to learn more about medical technologies.

Rail
Manufacturing

As Project Engineer working on the 2.8 billion dollar Waratah Train build, I was able to learn and apply project management principals, create performance management dashboards and forecast for maintenance activities.

I was able to practice my client management for stakeholders with conflicting interests working as part of the Public Private Partnership with RailCorp (now Transport for NSW) and Downer EDI, and having shared reporting to two managers.

In addition to reporting and operational analytics, I was able to work with the team to support their ISO9001 certification providing me with a strong document quality management skills.
